Kundalini Yoga (Sanskrit kuṇḍalinī-yoga कुण्डलिनी योग), also known as laya yoga, is a school of yoga. Kundalini yoga was influenced by the tantra and shakta schools ofHinduism.
Kundalini yoga derives its name through a focus on awakening kundalini energy through regular practice of meditation, pranayama, chanting mantra and yoga asana.[1]Called by practitioners “the yoga of awareness”, it aims “to cultivate the creative spiritual potential of a human to uphold values, speak truth, and focus on the compassion and consciousness needed to serve and heal others.”[2]
In 1968 Yogi Bhajan introduced his own brand of kundalini yoga into the United States, “Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan”. Yogi Bhajan founded the “Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization” (3HO) as a teaching organization. Yogi Bhajan took Brahmachari’s unique postures and techniques, attached them to Tantric theories and Virsa Singh’s mantras, and sold them as his own creation called “Kundalini” yoga

Quotes
Five substantial excerpts from the published transcript, lightly edited for clarity without changing their meaning.
“Choose a meditation and practice it every day at the same time and place. Early morning is traditionally valued because the world is quiet and the day has not yet accumulated demands. We clean our homes and bodies repeatedly; contemplative practice treats the subconscious mind as something that also benefits from regular clearing.”
From the conversation“Rhythm distinguishes Kundalini Yoga: rhythm in movement, breath, mantra, and sound. Music is not decoration around the practice; vibration and repetition help organize attention and community. The body, voice, and group enter a shared pattern that can make sustained concentration easier.”
From the conversation“A traumatic period filled me with fear, darkness, and doubt, and my practice weakened. An intensive day of White Tantric Yoga—many long meditations practiced with others—helped me reconnect with personal joy. The practice did not erase what happened; it restored access to a quality of life trauma had obscured.”
From the conversation“A mantra pairs meaning with breath and repetition for a defined period. When negative thought appears, the repeated sound interrupts its momentum and provides another pattern for attention. The claim is not that words magically erase difficulty, but that deliberate repetition can keep one thought from becoming the only available reality.”
From the conversation“Kundalini Yoga describes a radiant body extending awareness beyond the ordinary sense of self. Practically, the system combines rhythmic movement, mantra, and breath to cultivate sensitivity and presence. Its spiritual language points toward expansion, while its physical discipline provides a concrete way to practice that intention.”
